About

Hustai National Park, located in central Mongolia, is renowned for its successful reintroduction of the Takhi, or Przewalski’s horse, the last remaining wild horse species. Spanning over 50,600 hectares, the park was established in 1993 to protect these horses and conserve the region’s unique biodiversity. Besides the Takhi, Hustai is home to diverse wildlife, including red deer, Mongolian gazelle, gray wolves, and nearly 200 bird species, making it a critical habitat for conservation.

The park’s varied landscapes—mountains, river valleys, and grasslands—reflect Mongolia’s beautiful steppe ecosystem. Visitors can explore this rich environment through guided tours, wildlife watching, and hiking trails. Hustai also provides insight into Mongolian nomadic culture, with traditional ger camps available for accommodation. As a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, Hustai National Park exemplifies Mongolia’s commitment to preserving its natural heritage while supporting ecotourism and sustainable development.
